Library Ireland Week 2023 takes place from 3rd - 9th December. The theme this year is "Libraries are for everyone!"
For 2023, Library Ireland Week is again delivered in partnership with CILIP Ireland, as a co-supporter of the Library Staff Champion Award to recognise the significant contribution of library staff across the island of Ireland.
The LAI/CILIP Ireland Staff Champion Award aims to recognise the many extraordinary staff who work in libraries throughout our communities. As library staff, we all know exceptional people working in the sector who make a significant impact in their roles, as colleagues and to our library users. We invite staff to nominate a colleague, in your library or in the sector, for the LAI/ CILIP Ireland Library Staff Champion Award 2023.
To nominate someone for the Award, complete the online form which will ask for:
Name of person you are nominating
where they work
their email contact details
the contact details for their line manager/head librarian, if you have it
You will also be asked for an explanation of why you are nominating this person for the Award. Examples and information shared on the reason for nominating should relate to their recent activities and achievements, within the last three years. You will have up to 500 words to share your reasoning with the judges. Nominators are invited to consider the following themes when making their nomination:
Transformative contribution
Inspiring colleagues
Impact at local/community, organisational or national level
The closing date for nominations is Wednesday 22 November at midnight.
Following the announcement of a shortlist, the winner will be announced in Library Ireland Week, Sunday 3 December to Saturday 9 December.
More information and full details on the nomination process can be found at LAI CILIP Ireland Library Staff Champion Award – Library Week Ireland (libraryirelandweek.ie)
